Indigos Goes Green Jubilee Party

The Indigos Goes Green Jubilee Party on June 4th was a wonderful chance to mark the Queen’s Jubilee with the opportunity of bringing parents and children together again after Covid to enjoy the outdoors with an amazing ‘party’.

Working closely with Tonic Creatives and artists we devised an exciting full day  of celebrations, including:

  • Opening Address: Lincoln Sargeant Director Public Health Torbay Council, Avril Bankes Faye & Benjammin Reggae.

  • TJay the DJ & The Boom Bus PA

  • Vik Willow Workshop.

  • Making Jubilee Mementos

  • Bushcraft with Sylvan Adventures.

  • Do What Ya Mama Tells Yah! Just More productions.

  • Hula Jam - Just More productions

  • Laura Forster Music

  • Lunch

  • Crystal Sings For You

  • Moor to Sea Music Making

  • Waterslide

Working with Doorstep Arts we were able to secure the services Just More Productions “Do What Ya Mama Told Yah!” – which beautifully combined a feast of family fusion across geography and generations in a fun outdoor show! It was a great event which engaged the local community inextricably linking fun and food. There were two shows followed by two hula hoop workshops. The Indigos Goes Green supporters provided a wonderful array of festival food and snacks, which complemented the performance and gave local children the opportunity to thread their favourite fruit onto a bamboo skewer as well as munching their way through lots and lots of Jubilee cupcakes!

The Indigos playground has traditionally hosted family community events and this was no exception. Local artists including Vik Westaway, working with willow, Dan Best whittling wood, Moor to Sea and Laura Forster creating musical opportunities provided a professional and accessible expertise throughout the day. With support from the Sound Communities Boom Bus there were great contributions from professional musicians and with the help of our now established group of Junior Playworkers we were able to include Tjay the DJ’s musical choices with an impromptu disco! There were also opportunities to create Jubilee mementos, build dens, swing, play Lego in the fairy house and swish down a home-made water slide.
